Lauren Gorgone, LCSW

My Story

I recognized my passion for becoming a social worker/therapist when I was an adolescent trying to find myself in the world - and never forgot just how healing it is to have an objective space to process and “just be”! I have experience providing clinical counseling services to children, teens, young adults, and adults on an individual and family basis. I have worked in various settings as an Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS) Clinician, a Counselor at a Cancer Treatment Center, a School Social Worker, an Outpatient Therapist at two Youth Service Bureaus in Connecticut, and a Psychotherapist at a group practice.  I have experience both with individual and family therapy, as well as facilitating therapeutic groups, creating summer programming for youth, and providing supportive parenting education. I specialize in treating symptoms associated with trauma/complex developmental trauma, anxiety, low self esteem, and family changes.  I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is key to providing effective and genuine support. I utilize a mixture of trauma focused, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, mindfulness, and family systems approaches to provide a personalized approach to care. My style is relaxed, strengths based, and person centered - allowing me to walk with folks as they navigate their own personal healing journey!
